HouseTalk – Glen Ellyn Sidewalk Sale – Bargains!

It’s here!  Glen Ellyn’s Annual Sidewalk Sale is Thursday, 7/23 through Saturday, 7/25!  This event is not only for Glen Ellynites, but we welcome visitors from afar.  Bargain hunters have been known to schedule their vacations around this annual event.  Retailers in the down town business district and Roosevelt Road corridor have been planning for weeks.  The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce has activities planned for the “young at heart” on Main Street, north of the tracks, on Thursday.  Whether you are looking for antiques, gifts for friends or for you, you are bound to find that great bargain that you can’t live with out.  Glen Ellyn’s shops are full of surprises and one of kind items that are hard to find elsewhere. 

Walk with me as I visit some of the stores:  My first stop is ”Dancing Lights” – I love her selection of wind chimes and lanterns.  When I enter “Paisley on Main” – I love the explosion of colors of the Vera Bradley collections.  “Knickers” is where I like to splurge and buy something pretty just for me.  “Katy’s Boutique” windows always has something that tempts me to walk in – I know I will find that special outfit or accessory.  I know the biggest decision I will have for the day is choosing where to stop for lunch.  “Shannon’s” or “Tap House Grill”  are at the top of my list.   As I end my day of bargain hunting, thoughts turn to my dinner menu.  I know  “McChesney & Miller” will have a wide selection of meats that will be perfect for grilling.  “Wine Styles” will have a great bottle of wine and for dessert – the Red Velvet cupcakes at “Brickhouse Bakery Cafe” are the perfect end to a perfect “bargain shopping day”!
